On 28th April 2023, an orientation program on citizen-led assessment (CLA) was organized for public school teachers of Lalitpur in collaboration with Prabidhi Maitri Shikshak Samaj at Revive Leisure Park in Mahalaxmisthan. About 54 public school teachers participated in the program. The program was organized with the aim of informing public school teachers about the importance of learning assessments and how they can use foundational learning assessment tools in their teaching plans.
Devi Ram Acharya, a representative from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology facilitated the session on the importance of foundation learning assessment while the ASER team presented on testing tools and how to do an assessment.
The program has increased teacher’s knowledge of the importance of learning assessment and assessing children’s foundational skills as there were few teachers during the feedback session who mentioned that they were glad to come to know about learning assessments and how simply the foundational learning assessment tools can determine whether children have foundational literacy and numeracy skills. The program was successful in highlighting the importance of foundational learning assessment for children’s improved learning.
